The list of kits for sale is at the bottom of the page after all of the long winded explanations. Sorry for this, but I get a lot of questions and it’s easier to answer on the website rather than via email. You can get a lot more info on my SAQ page.

Here’s an explanation of what a short kit is, with pictures. You’ll have to complete the kit by buying your own sheet and stick wood from a balsa dealer. Here’s my best shot at explaining how to do this.

For whatever reason, a lot of people ask me “Are you still cutting kits?” Yes, I am cutting kits. That’s why I have this page on the website with a big list of kits.

The next most common question is about plans. I don’t have a giant printer, so I cannot provide plans. You can get plans the same way I get them, by downloading them from the internet. My favorite plans website is Outerzone. Get them printed at a local printing shop if you want a hard copy. Or you can look up Dennis a.k.a. Hemikiller on RC Groups for plans in the mail. He prints plans and has very good reviews.

When you buy a short kit, you don’t have to send me any wood. I provide the wood, cut the parts, and mail them to you.

If I try to cut 1/4″ plywood it ends up looking like a burned cookie. 1/4″ ply parts will be cut from two pieces of 1/8″, to be laminated by the builder. 3/16″ plywood parts will be made from two 3/32″ layers, or sometimes I will simply substitute one layer of 1/8″ when appropriate.

3/8″ balsa also takes a pretty severe beating in the laser cutter if it’s too hard, but sometimes I have 3/8″ balsa that is of the right consistency for good cutting. So you might get 3/8, or you might get two layers of 3/16 for laminating.

In an effort to minimize costs I buy balsa collections whenever I can. Some of these collections are very old. As a result, you may receive parts cut from balsa that has been yellowed by sunlight or has mysterious brown stains on it. Don’t worry about it. It all flies.

If you find a mysterious piece of wood in your kit that looks like this, it’s probably a dihedral gauge.

Some of my kits include parts for bolting the wing in place, where the original plan shows rubber bands. This is not true in all cases, but there are several with bolt-on kits included. Here’s a link for more info.

If you find an error in your kit, please let me know so I can fix it.

On some of my kits I have incorporated my own modifications, which I think the average builder would like. If you prefer your kit cut to original standard specs, let me know. Some of the listings below are not clickable, but don’t worry, they are all available.

If you have a set of cutting files that you or somebody else drew already, you can email them to me for cutting. In this case, mistakes are your responsibility.
